What is this load worth under your contract?

Enter the load and the contract terms you have, or the ones you are being offered. The statement shows every step from shipped weight to net money, so you can check a buyer's settlement line by line. It is arithmetic on your numbers, not a price.

How the statement is worked out

  1. Shipped weight is bales × average bale weight, or the tons you enter, converted with the contract's ton (2,000, 2,200 or 2,240 lb). See weights.
  2. Moisture above the limit is deducted as a share of weight, point for point. This is one common method; check yours in the moisture clause.
  3. Rejected or downgraded weight is paid nothing, and any disposal charge applies to it. See contamination.
  4. Price per ton comes from the formula, then the floor and cap. A revenue share applies its percentage to the greater of the floor and the actual sale price, as in New York’s statewide contract. See pricing formula.
  5. Freight comes off each load and equipment off each month.

Questions

How do I calculate what a bale of cardboard is worth?
Convert the bale weight to tons (2,000 lb per short ton), multiply by your contract price per ton, then subtract any moisture, contamination, freight and equipment deductions.
Where do I get the index value?
From your index subscription, or from the buyer’s monthly statement. Index values are licensed, so this calculator does not supply one; the default is an example.
Does this calculator give me a price?
No. It does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. For a price, ask buyers to bid.
